Day 46: {Running} 50 Marathons in 50 States + D.C.

Kelly has actually ran 65 marathons and ultras in multiple countries on multiple continents! But finishing all 50 states plus D.C. has been the goal she’s been working towards for many years. Huge accomplishment!!

It was so inspiring to run with her, I kept thinking about how long she’s been working toward this. Such dedication and discipline. I’m stubborn with my goals like Kelly is, for example, it took me years to qualify for Boston. I did other things in between my qualifying attempts like Ironman triathlons, trail ultras, and endurance mountain bike events. But I always went back to the road and worked on my speed, never letting that goal of qualifying get too far behind me.

I’m finally starting to think about some races for 2017. It’s taken me a while since my Leadville 100 finish to find a specific focus. I’m always motivated to train, I just haven’t known what specifically I’ve been training for these last couple months! Thankfully, I have a really patient coach who lets me race CX for fun while building back up my running!
