100 days of creating, practicing, writing, blogging, marketing, learning, making, reading, searching.
What a journey this has been. I’m starting to find my voice, I’m starting to be proud of my work, I’m starting to be comfortable letting the world get to know me.
I have changed so much as a writer, blogger, and most importantly a calligrapher. I tried so many new projects and commissions. I said YES to everything that stretched me as a person and artist and NO to everything that didn’t support me physical, emotionally, and financially.
It’s been awesome. I will absolutely continue blogging and showing my work on a regular schedule. Not exactly sure what that schedule is, will have lots of time for reflection these next 2 weeks. Or, as life tends to go, I will MAKE time for reflection these next 2 weeks.
Most importantly, I want to take a moment to thank YOU.
Thank you for following me on Instagram and Facebook.
Thank you for liking my posts and sharing my giveaways.
Thank you for telling your friends about my business!
Thank you for reading this blog and commenting on my work.
Thank you for supporting this journey!
I truly, truly could not have done it without you. I’m thankful from the bottom of my heart.
I’m currently sitting in the waiting area of the CVS MinuteClinic. Ready to get my travel immunizations, finally!!
I have a break in the middle of the day today that I don’t typically have. I brought my computer and camera to work on tonight’s print but the coffee shop I pulled into just happens to share a parking lot with CVS. I was like, “Crap. Go do it.” So here I am! I’m next in line so hopefully it won’t take too long!
I am a little nervous, I never even get a flu shot. I just hope there aren’t any side effects to anything I’m getting. Gotta run long on Friday, after all! Priorities. 😝
I was searching Pinterest for some good quotes and I really liked this one. I know a lot of people who attack things in their life with a passion that is partially fueled by their desire to prove someone wrong. “He said I couldn’t do it.” “My Doctor said I wouldn’t be able to do it.” “Those girls call me crazy.”
Proving people wrong is awesome, whatever motivates you!
I find a little bitterness in those words though, action fueled by anger and resentment. Probably to a fault, I’m the kind of person that thinks I can do anything because I know I’ll work hard and never give up. So if it’s something I really care about, like learning calligraphy and starting my own business, then I know I can do it! I know I will put in the time and energy and effort. Only a few people scoffed at me, but I like to think it’s more because it was out of left field, not because they didn’t believe I could do it.
When you quietly put in the work and never give up, you’ll accomplish your goal. Whatever “it” is. I know you will. The time will pass anyways, put the time to the best possible use.
And the truth of the matter is, that person you’re trying to prove wrong…they are watching and they are inspired and ready to try it for themselves. Because of you. ❤️
Hope you had a great day, thanks so much for reading!
Starting to wrap up all my projects! I finished all my envelope orders today and got them sent off. Only 2 days until I leave for vacation! Having fun with a few more running inspired prints for the Etsy shop, today is one to celebrate qualifying for Boston. This past weekend was the Dallas Marathon as well as my favorite race, the BCS Marathon. It was awesome to follow and track friends that were running! I have a friend that qualified for Boston after 3 years of trying, I’m so happy for him!
The first time I qualified it wasn’t by enough to get me into the actual race. The following year though I qualified by 10 minutes, a huge buffer! It was years and years and years of work to get to that point and one of the things I’m the most proud of in my whole life. I had a great race, it was one of those days that no matter what went wrong, I stayed positive and happy and believed. It was freaking awesome.
Hope you guys had a great day, thanks so much for checking in! My 100th day is Friday!!
It feels like it was 30 hours ago that I went for a run! It’s been a great day, just a little hectic. My run tomorrow is longer than normal, totally not complaining, I love that, it just means I have to start earlier! If I can swing it, I’ll be asleep when this blog post is published. 🙂
I woke up at midnight last night and couldn’t go back to sleep until around 2:00. Does that ever happen to you? I had that damn Hippopotamus for Christmas song in my head and IT. WOULD. NOT. STOP. I am hesitant to even type those words for fear it gets stuck in my head again! I am typically the best sleeper, I’m asleep before my head hits the pillow and I’m out until about 5 minutes before my alarm goes off. I try never to stress when I have nights like last night because they are so rare. I have friends that really struggle with getting regular sleep so I am super thankful I normally do!
I couldn’t decide on a running print so I made two! My shop, my rules! 🙂 Can you even have too many prints that proclaim your love of running? I don’t think so. Which one do you like best?? I love the blue watercolor heart. I made a pink one too but I like this one better.
Hope you’ve had a great day!!! Thank you so much for reading, let me know which you like better! The first or the second print? I’ll be back tomorrow with hopefully a little more sleep in me!
Ahhh, back to realty! Laying in bed last night I said to my husband, “Man, I wish we were outside.” The weather was great when we were camping, cold but not so cold that you needed to wear a beanie to bed and hide your face inside your sleeping bag. Cold enough though that when you left the campfire you were like, “Yikes, it’s freezing!” I’m so glad we got to do that again this year, it’s a great way to split up the fall semester.
Today, I was writing out all the posts I’m going to do on the final countdown to Day 100. Day 100! As long as I don’t fold and miss a day, Day 100 will be Thursday, December 15th, the day before I leave for Belize! Perfect timing. I’m really excited about all the things I have planned for these final days. Another full wedding suite, this time with all the trimmings. Signs, seating charts, even a map! I can’t wait to show you! I’ve also got a few projects in the works for my athlete buddies, they will all be printables in the Etsy shop.
I couldn’t wait to share yesterdays Marathon print with you guys. I am so happy with how it turned out! I wasn’t totally satisfied with the half marathoner so I redid it. AND NOW I LOVE IT. I like it even better than the Marathoner! So fun!
Not too much going on this week (thank goodness), I should be able to ease back into work mode pretty easily. 2 more days off the ankle but tomorrow I can bike so looking forward to getting my sweat on! By this weekend I’ll be back with my long run. I was looking at my December calendar in regards to run training and seriously, it’s like the month is over before it even starts! December is crazy. Always!
Hope you’ve had a great day, thanks so much for reading! If you’ve been to Belize and have any fun stories let me know!
Oh my gosh, what a great day I’ve had!! I love a productive day. Still resting my ankle from a tweak this past weekend so I got to use those precious early morning hours to create instead of run. And create I did! Got 2 photo Christmas cards done and added 2 new prints to the shop!
Celebrate your half marathon or marathon with a gold lettered print to hang near your medals! Both prints are only $5.48 and can be found in my Etsy shop!

Now that Thanksgiving is over, we can focus all our attention on Christmas! Woohoo!! I’m going on a trip (to Belize, squeeee!) on December 16th so doing my best to get the shop all stocked up before I go! Have a great night, see you tomorrow! Only 18 days to go of the 100 day challenge!!
Just a reminder, the deadline for the giveaway is tomorrow night! Check out yesterday’s post for details!
This morning was my running club’s annual race, Double Trouble 5k & 10k. I always volunteer as bike lead for both races, it’s a ton of fun. This morning might have been our coldest morning of the year so far which made for some fast times and personal records, even on the hilly course. I was freezing on my bike though!
When the race was over I headed straight to Fort Worth to race my 3rd cyclocross race of the season. This time I raced the Women’s 3/4 race which is totally where I belong! It’s awesome to race with the Pro/1/2/3 ladies but until I actually have a CX bike and oh, I don’t know, TRAIN, I’m sticking to Women’s 3/4. Maybe when I’m Masters (40+) I’ll train specifically for CX and race all the state races. I would really like that! I just am never willing to sacrifice my run time. Now, if CX was in the summer…I would happily stop running in our Texas summers.
My thoughts are in St Louis tonight, the band my husband teaches is performing in the finals of a big competition! It’s the first time these seniors have advanced to the finals of a Super Regional. (band talk) Go Richland!!!!! It’s been an incredible year!
